PURPOSE OF THE CLUB
To provide a means whereby the villagers of Langbank, and others with a similar interest, can meet socially to further their knowledge in matters of photography and photographic reproduction. The meetings are informal, giving opportunity for discussions, competitions and guest speakers.
BACKGROUND TO THE CLUB
The Langbank Camera Club was established on the 23rd of January 2006, when a group of people from the village, and out with, met to discuss the setting up of such a club. Such was the interest, it was agreed at that meeting, on the general structure of the club, meeting place, purpose etc.
The club is open to everyone with any amount of skill and even the most basic equipment. An AGM will be held each January for the election of office bearers and review of club activities.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP
In the time the Camera Club has been in existence, over 30 people have joined. Attendance at the monthly meetings varies between 8 and 18 members. There is an annual fee of £20 for existing members - 50% discount for new members for the first year (£10). A £1 gate fee will be collected from each person at the meetings to cover the hall rental, purchase of tea, coffee and biscuits etc.
MONTHLY COMPETITIONS
These attract a good entry and the subject is agreed at the meeting prior. Entries are unmounted prints, (10" x 8" or A4) and are generally digital images. Judging is by club members or guest speakers. Competition subjects in the past have been - birds, trees, seascapes, clouds, food, water, reflections, glass, engineering, still life etc.
The title photos are by September's winners Derrick McPherson and Gary Ramanathan on the subject of "Seaside Architecture". The Competition theme for the January meeting on the 11th is "Waterscape (monochrome or colour)"
